Livonia Police Department Citizen Police Academy
The Livonia Police Department is proud to announce our 2018 Citizens Police Academy. The Citizens
Police Academy will commence on Wednesday February 21, 2018, and meet every Wednesday thru
April 25, 2018. Classes will run from 6:00 pm to 09:30 pm.
What is it
Police personnel will offer residents and business owners insight into how police officers
perform their duties and how the Livonia Police Department serves the community. The purpose of this
program is to allow attendees to become familiar with the Police Department through classroom
instruction and practical experiences. It is the Police Department’s intent to share with participant’s public awareness about the police department and to increase police/community rapport through this educational process.
Classes will be held at the Livonia Police Department training room located at 15050 Farmington Road
Livonia. The curriculum for the Academy will include a facility tour and presentations by the following
• Patrol/Detective/Narcotic/Traffic Bureau
• Crime Scene Unit including AFIS system
• Computers, Communications and Police Technology
• The Criminal Justice System
• Fats/Use of Force Policy/Procedures
• Firearms Training (Optional)
• Emergency Preparedness
• Ride along with a patrol officer (Optional)
Who may apply
To apply for the Citizens Police Academy you must be at least 21 years of age, live or work in the city of
Livonia. Eligible applicants will be subject to a background investigation before consideration for the
program and participants will be selected based upon successful background investigation. All
participants are required to sign a Release of All Claim Waiver Form.
How to Apply
There is no cost to attend the program. Interested participants may obtain an application and waiver form at the front desk of the police department or Police department’s website at www. LivoniaPD.com. All applications/Forms must be turned into the Livonia Police Department on or before Friday January 5, 2018. Class size is limited.
